Strategic Principal Designer driving collaboration and execution in complex data-driven products.
I specialize in driving design strategy and execution, mentoring teams, championing cross-functional alignment, and delivering high-impact products that drive growth and innovation. I'm based in the NYC metro region, and open to hybrid & remote opportunities worldwide.
He frequently went above and beyond his formal responsibilities by advocating for designers with project management and engineering, establishing healthy relationships, and mentoring designers through complex challenges.
Darren has a "customer first" mindset and always thinks of a product design from the perspective of - what is the problem, who are we solving it for, what is the impact radius, and has this been solved (and proven) before?
One of the things I admire about Darren is his ability to balance ideal UX visions with engineering realities. Sometimes due to tech constraints, parts of the UX vision could not easily be achieved. This can certainly be frustrating, but Darren always took this in stride.
I have never seen anyone bring stakeholders together and foster a more productive discussion about improving the experience of our customers than Darren.
Darren is a master at facilitating workshops. His sessions are not just productive — they drive key design decisions that shape multi-quarter roadmaps. His influence goes beyond just a single project; it's felt across entire teams and product lines.
Darren stands out as a lead designer in his stakeholder management and design and facilitation of workshops at all stages of the process. We were missing this skill before Darren arrived...
Darren is a natural leader in the way he supports and uplevels the team around him, drives collaboration across teams & disciplines, and brings user centricity to every project he works on.
I appreciated his design skills across the board, but I have to say, "this man can run a cross-functional workgroup better than probably anyone I've met". He knows how to make everyone feel heard and gives the opportunity for the participants to drive the direction of the discussion, all the while making sure things stay focused...

This is my journey:
I designed websites and digital advertising campaigns for some of the biggest brands in the world. I personally executed on my own designs (shown here) while managing the design execution of a global distributed workforce of up to 10 direct-reports. I designed and oversaw the execution of email campaigns, e-commerce campaigns, websites, mobile apps & more...
In my most recent role as a Principal Product Designer, I use my foundation of design along with my experience as a people manager to develop the processes and approaches that drive strategic alignment with my cross-disciplinary partners.
Additional expertise & core strengths
I can lead & mentor others, I can execute on my own, I can communicate and document complex design processes for reusability.
I can collaborate with all levels of leadership and artfully defend design decisions while advocating for the customer & amplifying the impact of design.
I am particularly adept at aligning cross-functional teams on a shared path informed by design & research.
