Darren Lasso

He frequently went above and beyond his formal responsibilities by advocating for designers with project management and engineering, establishing healthy relationships, and mentoring designers through complex challenges.

Taylor
Senior Product Designer

Darren has a "customer first" mindset and always thinks of a product design from the perspective of - what is the problem, who are we solving it for, what is the impact radius, and has this been solved (and proven) before?

Tapan
Director of Product Management

One of the things I admire about Darren is his ability to balance ideal UX visions with engineering realities. Sometimes due to tech constraints, parts of the UX vision could not easily be achieved. This can certainly be frustrating, but Darren always took this in stride.

Tom
Principal Software Engineer

I have never seen anyone bring stakeholders together and foster a more productive discussion about improving the experience of our customers than Darren.

Sophia
Senior Product Designer

Darren is a master at facilitating workshops. His sessions are not just productive — they drive key design decisions that shape multi-quarter roadmaps. His influence goes beyond just a single project; it's felt across entire teams and product lines.

Jai
UX Researcher

Darren stands out as a lead designer in his stakeholder management and design and facilitation of workshops at all stages of the process. We were missing this skill before Darren arrived...

Danika
Senior Product Design Manager

Darren is a natural leader in the way he supports and uplevels the team around him, drives collaboration across teams & disciplines, and brings user centricity to every project he works on.

Nathan
Senior UX Researcher

I appreciated his design skills across the board, but I have to say, "this man can run a cross-functional workgroup better than probably anyone I've met". He knows how to make everyone feel heard and gives the opportunity for the participants to drive the direction of the discussion, all the while making sure things stay focused...

Throughout my career, I’ve used user journeys to advocate for users and guide design decisions.

This is my journey:

Phase 0

Leading visual design

We all start our product design journey somewhere. I began with a focus on visual design, creating engaging digital campaigns, websites, mobile apps and managing up to 10 direct reports as a Creative Director and UX Lead.
Phase 1

Leading product design

Focus on product execution, leveraging my framework to align teams and delivering feasible designs that solve key user needs.
Phase 2

Influencing product strategy

Focus on product strategy, empowering & mentoring designers, delivering designs that influence product direction and impact the business.
Phase 0: Leading visual design
Don't let my recent data-heavy designs fool you. My foundation is in visual design.

I don't want to be defined solely by the last project I worked on. I've also designed websites, mobile apps, and digital advertising campaigns for some of the biggest brands in the world. I personally executed on my own designs (shown here) while managing the design execution of a global distributed workforce of up to 10 direct-reports.

Now I'm a Product Design leader driving strategic alignment and execution for some of the most complex, challenging, and undefined use cases in tech.

In my most recent role as a Principal Product Designer, I use my foundation of design along with my experience as a people manager to develop the processes and approaches that drive strategic alignment with my cross-disciplinary partners.

I've always pushed pixels...

now I push for user experiencestrategic product vision, and business outcomes too.
